Lead vocals, lead/rhythm guitar
It all started back in grade 3, my grandparents took me to the local Long & McQuade and bought me a guitar for passing grade 3. It sat in my closet for about two years before I started to learn by ear, I learnt how to play “Smoke on the Water” and some Christmas jingle that I had to play in front of my class with some friends. Since learning those songs I just took off learning new techniques everyday. I started learning songs by bands like Jet, AC/DC and Green Day. I started listening to heavier bands like Creed, Nickelback, Theory of a Deadman and 80’s bands like Def Leppard, Warrant and Bon Jovi. It was around the age of 12 when I started playing guitar every night after school. My talent and musicianship started to grow and I became a better, faster player. At the age of 15 I met Sean and we hit it off right away, discussing our favourite bands and talking about jamming sometime. When we started to jam, he was originally playing drums and I only playing guitar. At this same age I started to sing due to the fact that just playing guitar started to get a little boring, I wanted to do something new. Sean heard me sing “Sweet Child O Mine” one time and ever since then he has pushed me to sing and helped me a lot with my singing even though he isn’t a singer. He’s taught me a lot about techniques and ranges and helped me improve my range without hurting myself. As Outshined formed we needed a singer and by default I filled that spot. At first I wanted no part of fronting a band, but as I grew as a vocalist and we started playing school talent shows and a few shows around our local area, I realized it was really fun seeing and feeling the response from the crowd. I’m really happy with the current line up of Outshined and couldn’t be happier with the direction we are going.
